Which Ant-Man Will Paul Rudd Play?

Ant-Man

While we are all thrilled (to some extent) that Paul Rudd will be playing Ant-Man in the Marvel movies, everyone is curious to know which alter-ego will he actually be? Hank Pym, Scott Lang or Eric O’ Grady.

For those unaware, it’s Pym who discovered the chemical substance (later known as Pym Particles) to alter one’s size. He also created a helmet that would allow him to control Ants. Thus, Ant-Man was born. Scott Lang was a thief, who had stolen the suit & helmet to save his daughter – who then reformed his life and became the successor to Hank Pym as the Ant-Man. Eric O’Grady is a low-level agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., who had stolen the suit for his personal gain.

While there is no indication of which character we would see in the movie, we are hoping for Hank Pym. To begin with, he is the original Ant-Man, who discovered the Pym Particles and created the suit. He is also the creator of Ultron. Yes, the same Ultron that will be seen in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015. So everyone is wondering why is the Ant-Man movie releasing AFTER the Avengers Sequel. Here is one possibility, Paul Rudd could make a special appearance at the end of the movie – showing him as the link to Ultron and the solo movie could be his back story & complete tie-in to the Marvel movies. The release date between the 2 movies is not too long. So this would work well. Also, this story line actually would be a heaps better than a Nick Fury solo movie. The other possibility is that Pym maybe inspired from the events from the Avengers sequel, to create the Ant-Man suit and helmet. Thereby, altering the origins. Wouldn’t be a first for Marvel but workable.

Paul Rudd as Scott Lang or Eric O’Grady is not too promising as both characters steal the existing the Ant-Man suit first. So it must first exist before it can be stolen – there have been no easter eggs of this in the previous movies – so Marvel may be reaching here, if they attempt that. If they do a tie in the TV show for with Eric O’Grady, that would just be weak and sad.

Paul Rudd as Ant-Man would definitely work. Thankfully, he beat Joseph Gordon-Levitt to the part. Surely everyone is in agreement on that.

Paul-Rudd-Ant-Man

Looking forward to the 2015 movies.
