With all the massive collection at the box office for Thor: The Dark World (north of $600 million, recent report states), the possibilities of the other Avenger movies makes it even more probable. There are talks about Loki getting in his own solo movie. With the increase in fan base; the studio will definitely be considering this. What may have missed many fans’ radar is that another member of Avengers is taking the plunge from the comics to the movies: The Black Panther. Watch a recent interview of Kevin Feige on the same:
If the Black Panther does make it to the big screen, who would play the role? If the studio can afford, I would definitely want to see Will Smith (massive fan). Though it would be odd to see the Black Panther use the catch phrase: “Aw, hell no!”. Ha ha ha ha. But considering what the current actors are doing with their characters – it might just work.
Or the other possibility would be to see Djimon Hounsou. He is a very versatile actor who could definitely pull it off. Possibly even better than Will Smith. Rather have him as The Black Panther than as Korath the Pursuer in Guardians of the Galaxy.
For the folks not to aware of the Black Panther: T’Challa is the Black Panther, the ceremonial name given to the chief of the panther tribe in the African nation of Wakanda. The tribe is one of the most technologically advanced nations on Earth. From a comic book publication history, Black Panther is the first black superhero in mainstream American comics. Lot of pressure for the studio to get it right. Maybe that’s why they are taking their time with this.
