Best Games for the Xbox 360

Quick, what’s the first thing that comes into your mind when you hear the name “Microsoft”? Chances are you either answered “Windows” or “Xbox”, because these are the two iconic products that Microsoft is mainly known for. Even though Microsoft’s latest console, the Xbox One, made quite an impression, its predecessor is far from dead. Despite the fact that it was released in 2005, the Xbox 360 is still popular nowadays as well, and if you’ve got one lying around, here are the top Xbox 360 games you should totally try before you switch to a newer console.

Grand Theft Auto V

GTA V for Xbox 360

Grand Theft Auto, or GTA as it is commonly known, has always been a highly-addictive game, but the fifth reincarnation takes things to a whole new level. While the gameplay of the previous games in the series was mostly about causing havoc through the city, with a plot that was far from impressive, GTA V is here to change all that by focusing on the story and the characters more than on the gameplay. As a result, you’ve got a game that will definitely have you mesmerized, making you feel like you’re part of a movie with a twisted plot, where money, drugs and power is all that matters. What makes the game stand out from the previous releases is the fact that you don’t just play as one character – you take control if three characters, which makes the gameplay far more interesting than you can imagine.

GTA V is available for the Xbox 360 since September 2013, but will only come to the newer Xbox One in the fourth quarter of 2014.

Mass Effect 2

Mass-Effect-2

If you’re a fan of third-person shooters, I’m pretty sure the name “Mass Effect” rings some bells. Even though the story initially seems to be just your classical space shooter, where aliens try to exterminate the human race for no reason whatsoever, once you start playing you’ll see that the game is quite catchy. The second game in the series, Mass Effect 2, is one of the best ranked third-person shooters available for the Xbox 360 platform, and the action focuses around the alien race abducting entire colonies of humans before the big extermination; guess who’s going to stop them.

Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3 for Xbox 360

Continuing the story where Mass Effect 2 left off, Mass Effect 3 presents the ultimate battle between humans and aliens. The game was so anticipated that some professional game reviewers, such as IGN, ranked it in the top positions in the charts of the best Xbox 360 games, and a leaked beta version of the game that was accidentally released well before the game was due to hit the market fueled the whole hysteria about it. It goes without saying that all the hype about it was not in vain.

BioShock

BioShock for Xbox 360

BioShock is one of the most popular first-person shooters available for the Xbox 360 platform; what makes it so special, you may ask? Well, how about the fact that the action of the games takes place underwater? After a plane crash in the ocean, your character, Jack, ends up by mistake in an underwater city controlled by a wealthy business magnate. Multiple dangers await in the dark waters, so you’ll have to be careful if you want to survive. Think you got what it takes? Well, there’s only one way to find out.

Halo 3: ODST

Halo 3 ODST

Halo is one of the biggest names in the field of first-person shooters, and it got its fame for a reason – the game is simply awesome! So awesome, actually, that the publisher of the game thought that it deserved an exclusive release for the Xbox 360. Considering the fact that the published of the game is Microsoft, it’s not a big surprise that the Xbox 360 platform was chosen, but don’t think it has anything to do with favoritism. Halo 3: ODST is also about fighting aliens, but this game chooses a slightly different approach: instead of being right in the middle of the action, in Halo 3: ODST you’re taking part of the aftermath, after dozens of your teammates were brutally killed. The game will make you understand that you’re not invincible, but it will also make you feel so while seeking revenge for your fallen comrades.
