In honor of the hero’s 75th anniversary, Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and DC animated universe maestro Bruce Timm have crafted this two-minute animated short, which blasts through the highlights of the character’s many incarnations, from comics, to movies, video games, and even pop art.

The short, produced by Warner Bros. Animation, and the idea was to cover every iconic event in the past 75 years that supes has been associated with. Starting with the classic car-lifting cover from Action Comics #1, which Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster created in 1938 and moves to the Christopher Reeve’s movies, Superman vs. Brainiac, Death and Return of Superman, Kingdom Come, Superman The Animated Series, The New 52 and ends with Man of Steel. To add to it all, there’s the John William’s theme which transitions into the Hans Zimmer theme from Man of Steel. It’s one heck of a journey!

You’d probably notice that Superman Returns and Superman The TV Series was left out; all part of the plan I suppose. It’s probably one of the challenges when you’re curating such a massive legacy.
